Harry Kalas finally got to be up in the booth and make the call of the Phils winning the World Series.
The Phillies are World Series Champions. I’m still having moments where it doesn’t seem real.
Yet it is.
I need to buy a shirt.

I profoundly lack belief in any sorts of deities, but the events of last night are bizarre.
All day yesterday I had to deal with the sense of dread that if there were a way for the Phillies to lose, to be denied victory, it would happen. And now here we exist in this limbo of [...]
October 27, 2008 – 8:14 am
I was 10 years old in 1980 when the Phillies won their one World Series victory. I loved that win as a kid would love it. Baseball was my game as a young kid and the Phillies started getting good in the late 70s, I had little sense of the history of the team, you [...]

little sore spot. I’ve had no pain at all walking and moving around, but if I probe around I can find that sore spot on the tibia, although the area of it seems to be shrinking. So I guess just keep avoiding running for now.
Did 3 lifts last night. Standing overhead presses, front squats and [...]

I’m a bit worried and nervous. After the 14 miler I ran on the 11th, I had a bit of soreness on the upper portion of my left tibia. The runs on Tuesday and Thursday last week had some discomfort there and Thursday during the day there was enough discomfort and soreness that I was [...]

I stayed up, watched all of it last night. Carlos Ruiz caught the final popup and the NLCS was over in 5 games with a victory by the Phils over the Dodgers, 5-1. It’s been a while, 15 years since the last one back in 1993. Last night’s game didn’t have all the drama of [...]
October 14, 2008 – 8:05 am
That was one of the greatest Phillie games I’ve ever watched.
It started off looking like the Phillies would jump all over Derek Lowe, but eventually the Dodgers came back, pulled ahead 5-3 after Howard’s wayward throw and looked to have more runs coming in. But Utley snagged that line drive, doubled up Furcal at second [...]
October 13, 2008 – 8:25 am
Last year for my first half-marathon I just basically worked on building up running mileage and a long run that reached 13.1 miles in distance on the 3rd of November, 15 days before the half. This year I figured I should be able to build up and get a few runs in that would go [...]

Notes from bizarro broadcasting announcing stuff of last night’s game –
Tim McCarver analyzes a pitch by Cole Hamels, thinks it might be a cutter/cut fastball. It seems that McCarver does not know Cole Hamels has one of the best change ups baseball has ever seen.
In the 8th inning, McCarver goes on to declare that Ryan [...]

I’m pretty used to getting in bed around 9 PM or shortly after. Especially if it’s a day where I get up at 4 AM. But not yesterday. Phillies in the playoffs, in the league championship series. I stayed up and watched all of it last night, in spite of having to watch it on [...]
