All right. I’ll get to this morning’s run, but first I ought to cover what I did yesterday after getting home from work.
Yesterday was a walking day, although that’s been evolving over this past month. At first I would jog some on the downhills to help move the walk along. And lately I’ve begun incorporating [...]
I pretty well knew when I woke up Saturday morning, too early, before the alarm, feeling like I had slept like shit again on a long week of shitty sleep nights, that it wasn’t going to be a good day to run hard in a 5K.
I soldiered on about waking up and getting ready. While [...]
Yesterday when I went out for my walk, I put on my running gear. Shorts, tank top, running shoes. The plan was to run the downhills for the most part easy and throw in some uphill work too — some short uphill sprints in the range of 8 to 10 seconds and some longer uphill [...]
I registered to run the Philly marathon today. It was $80, so about 3 dollars for each mile or so.
I covered more than marathon distance over the last week. 15.8 miles of running and 11.4 miles of hiking. I ran 8.2 miles on Saturday morning and walked 7.6 yesterday. The long run went well, I [...]
I ran reluctantly this morning. When the alarm came on at 5, I slammed it shut and asked myself why didn’t I set the alarm for 6. My blood sugar was 172, which was an improvement over the 292 at 1:30 in the morning.
I grumpily went to the bathroom to relieve my bladder and bowels. [...]
A good training week. Ran 14.8 miles with a 7.2 mile long run on Saturday. That’s the most miles I’ve run in a week since the half-marathon last November. I also walked 10 miles with a 6.2 mile hike on Sunday morning and carrying a 35-lb pack. 2 weeks ago I had walked 5.5 miles [...]
It’s been wet some here so far this month. Almost strange to see the sun today. The weather pattern here is the same one affecting Long Island where yesterday’s US Open saw play get suspended, not simply because of the heavy rain yesterday, but all the rain that has happened lately. The ground is soggy [...]
Saturday’s run wasn’t very good. Legs felt sluggish and tired, after the halfway mark I did lots of walking. I decided that since it was supposed to be an easy week no sense in trying to push through.
Yesterday’s walk was good though. I did it without a pack. Having done 5 and 5.5 miles with [...]
Yesterday morning, I walked 5.5 miles with 35 lbs of sand in my pack. The pack doesn’t have a belt to strap it in so the weight sits on my hips, my shoulders have to take some abuse. The shoulders feel a bit tight and sore this morning along with the calf muscles. I hiked [...]
It was a good steady rain by the time I got out of work yesterday. Earlier this year, that meant I wouldn’t have bothered with running, easy enough to bail on the workout as running wasn’t the priority then. Now it’s different, I’ve got to run if I want to have a good acquittal of [...]
